My current work captures the wrinkles and struggles in our collective lives with a keen focus on the lurking instabilities within them. I render these challenging elements in a robust variety of shapes, variegations, and textures intended to evoke introspection about life's grays. Resilience runs through my work because it often comes from experiencing imperfection. My architectural training influences how I create forms, as seen in my choices of proportion, division, hierarchy of detail, and scale.  I begin with forms that make sense to me at a primal level. Sometimes I’m relentlessly thoughtful with each step of my work. Other times, I’m comically carefree, allowing my fingers to follow unplanned flows. I’m comfortable with taking risks with promising moves, and thus my work continues to evolve.  I am fortunate to live between Candler, NC, New York City, and Setúbal, Portugal with my writer wife, Stacey Millett.
